THE RAINIER NAME: The patriarch of the Cascade Range, Mount Rainier (Elev. 14,410’) towers over the surrounding landscape with its snow-capped peak. Its inspiration can be found throughout the Puget Sound including Richlite Company’s namesake.
With the outer surfaces of Chocolate Glacier and alternating layers of Maple Valley and Redstone, Richlite’s Rainier color creates a dynamic look. The layers of Chocolate Glacier will darken to a rich brownish-black, while the Maple Valley layers appear a pale, amber color and over time will darken to sienna and the Redstone layers will darken slightly while becoming warmer.
PATINA: Richlite patinas like a natural wood product and varies from sheet to sheet. Like wood, it will mature in color, giving greater depth to the surface. Over time and with use, Richlite will develop a seasoned appearance characteristic of the material. There will be more luster in areas of heavier use. Overall, it will appear softer and deeper in tone.
SURFACE APPEARANCE: Due to the natural variation in the way fibers lay within the panel, Richlite has a mottled appearance that patterns in a lengthwise direction. This is less apparent in dark colors, however, the mottled appearance is still present.
